Impact in Schools and Communities
As tragedies struck schools across Wise County — including the devastating loss of four children in one small elementary school — the need to bring grief support directly into schools became undeniable. That’s when Jenny’s Hope in Schools was born.
Our program provides immediate on-site support for students, teachers, and staff after loss. Beyond crisis response, we train educators and counselors to recognize signs of grief, communicate with compassion, and create supportive environments for healing.
With limited resources and no dedicated school funding for grief services, our team often operates on an “all hands on deck” basis. Grants, donations, and community partnerships make this vital work possible.
Today, Jenny’s Hope in Schools partners with seven school districts, Region 11 Education Service Center, and local churches, police, and fire departments. Together, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate community — one that recognizes loss, responds with love, and helps children and families find hope again.
““NONE OF US KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO SAY OR DO AND THEY WERE HELPING GUIDE US. THEY WERE TELLING US THEY WERE GOING TO BE THERE. IT WAS A RELIEF TO KNOW THERE WAS THAT SUPPORT TO HELP US AND HELP THE KIDS.””
